Vaccinations
A Vaccination Centre was set up at Maldon District Council offices before Christmas to service Blackwater, Longfields and Tollesbury surgeries. These are being supported by volunteers and good progress has been made with vaccinating the over 80s and care home residents and they are looking to vaccinate health and care frontline staff.
People over 80 are also able to contact local hospitals for a vaccine if they prefer, however it important to stress that all GP surgeries will be making contact with over 80s within the next 2 weeks and they will be offered a local vaccine appointment.
Covid-19 Testing
As mentioned earlier this week, Maldon District Council have launched a centre for asymptomatic people (people with no symptoms) to pick up COVID tests. These can be collected and carried out at home by the public and then dropped off to be collected by courier for processing.
There are 5000 tests available and around 1200 have been picked up since the service launched on Monday. It will continue until the current supply runs out and it was not known if a further supply will be provided by Essex County Council.
Tests can be collected and dropped off at the Maldon Town Hall from Mon-Wed 9:30am-3:30pm and drop off only from 12-2 on Thurdays.
